  Yojana is a savings scheme for the girls who is below 18 years. It is the initiative taken by the government in the Beti Bachao beti padhao campaign.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Scheme

Introduction

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account can be opened in the name of a girl child by depositing 250 rupees and maximum is 1.5 lacs per year.


Only one account is allowed to open in the name of a girl. In case two girls in a family, open each account for each girl. Only two girls accounts are allowed to a family.


Sukanya Samriddhi yojana scheme can be opened in any authorised banks and in any nearby post office.


Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana interest rates per financial year 2021 - 2022 have been set as 7.6 % per annum.


The individual has to deposit the amount upto 15 years from the date of account opening.


After 15 years of deposit, SSY account continues to earn interest until maturity.


The SSY account can be prematurely closed in case of girl marriage.


The maturity of account is for a period of 21 years from the account open date.


Withdraw the amount for the educational purpose of the girl child.


SSY account interest earned is free from Income Tax under section 10 of IT Act.

Application Form


The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana application form requires some data regarding the girl child.


Name of the girl child.

Name of parent.

Initial deposit amount.

Cheque /DD number and date.

Date of birth of girl.

Birth certificate details of girl child.

ID details of parents like aadhar.

And permanent address of parent.

Details of any other KYC documents like PAN card number.


The SSY accounts has grown by more than 40% over the past year. According to National Savings Institute statistics, in this year 2021 the scheme had invested of rupees 1.05 lakh crore.
